The Hortus is one of the oldest botanical gardens in the Netherlands. On a territory of more than twenty hectares, there is much to discover for young and old, such as the unique Chinese Ming garden, the Hondsrug garden and the ecological Laarman garden. Literally the highlight is the rock garden. Visitors can stroll around themselves or be shown around by a guide.
Culture lovers can also indulge themselves in the gardens. The Hortus is regularly the setting for festivals and other activities. An annual sculpture exhibition is organized from mid-May to the end of September. There is also plenty to do for children, for example on the basis of treasure hunts.
Restaurants Grand Café De Plantage and Chinese Tea House “The Moaning of the Dragon” are both very suitable for celebrating parties and organizing business meetings. The Hortus café and a shop are located in the entrance hall.
